Color Directions 27/28 – Transmutation
Transmutation is the continuous evolution of materials, aesthetics and consumer expectations. It reflects a world where color is no longer simply an aesthetic choice, but a way to express emotions, craftsmanship, sustainability, technology and cultural change.
At Muno, we believe color only becomes meaningful when it can be translated into material innovation. This vision inspired Color Directions 27/28 – Transmutation: a collection of forty carefully curated shades, organised into four distinctive Color Worlds that transform global cultural insights into tangible opportunities for leather. Developed to inspire future leather applications for AW 2027-2028 and SS 2028, the publication provides a forward-looking perspective on the evolving language of color, materials and design.
Developed specifically for the leather industry, the book combines creative inspiration with material expertise, helping brands and designers create products that resonate with tomorrow's expectations while celebrating the unique character and versatility of leather.

Transmutation represents the continuous transformation of materials, aesthetics and consumer expectations.
Colors are no longer simple visual elements—they express emotions, sustainability, craftsmanship, technology and cultural evolution.
Our concept of Transmutation reflects this ongoing process of change, where leather becomes a medium through which emerging ideas are translated into innovative products.
Four Worlds. Forty Colors. One Material.
Our Color Directions 2728 explores transformation through four distinctive Color Worlds, each expressing a unique emotional and material landscape.
Together, they present 40 curated colors that translate emerging cultural, aesthetic and consumer signals into the language of leather.
SUGAR STARDUST.
Whimsical. Nostalgic. Dreamlike.
A world where sweetness meets memory and lightness. Surfaces evoke spun sugar, crystals, and pearlescent reflections, while the palette moves between delicate pastels and richer accent tones. Colors capture and diffuse light softly, creating an aesthetic that feels both nostalgic and contemporary. Finishes favour velvety textures, matte waxes, controlled gloss effects, and iridescent details that enhance the tactile dimension of leather.
EARTH ALCHEMY.
Ritualistic. Ancestral. Sacred.
Inspired by the memory of the earth and the intelligence of natural processes, this color direction draws from mineral pigments, spices, clay, and surfaces shaped by time. The palette reflects primordial and authentic hues, evoking geological landscapes, ritual objects, and materials transformed by fire and human craftsmanship. Finishes emphasize depth, patina, and texture, expressing a profound connection between color, matter, and cultural heritage.
LIVING MATTER.
Organic. Verdant. Lush.
An exploration of nature’s vitality and its continuous capacity for transformation and regeneration. The palette ranges from fresh botanical greens to deeper vegetative shades, enriched by organic and floral accents. This direction interprets material as a living organism in constant evolution, where growth, biodiversity, and the relationship between humans and nature become sources of inspiration for both color and surface expression.
LIQUID REVERIES.
Mercurial. Silvered. Shimmering.
A fluid and reflective world where color takes on almost liquid qualities. Metallic greys, mineral blues, and silvery tones interact with mirrored effects, transparency, and shifting reflections. Inspired by water, molten metals, and technological surfaces, this palette explores the relationship between movement, light, and matter. Finishes enhance reflectivity, depth, and perceptual transformation, creating a sophisticated and contemporary material language.
The Evolution of Color, Translated into Leather
Muno Color Trends are a study of the evolution of color translated into the language of leather. Through color palettes, finishes, textures, and visual storytelling, they identify the most relevant aesthetic and material directions for future seasons, supporting product development across industries.
From Inspiration to Material
Behind every Color Direction lies a creative process enriched by extensive material exploration, including object sourcing, surface analysis, bespoke textures and finishing references.
More than a trend forecast, Color Directions 27/28 is a practical design tool that translates cultural insight into material innovation. By connecting color, texture, finish and leather performance, Muno transforms emerging trends into tangible inspiration for future collections—helping brands design products that are both aesthetically relevant and technically achievable.
